Software News   Software News : Allegro Game development library - Status update
   posted by Troels on 18-May-2007 23:55:31 (3964 reads)
The idea to get Allegro ported to AmigaOS4 came from spotUP who needed Allegro to get more stuff to port. As spotUP is responsible for 300+ uploads to OS4depot I think that sounded like a great idea and the bounty was set up at www.amigabounty.net.
We have so far reached 250 EUR but I was hoping more people would make some donations as there are now two people working on the Allegro port.

And that was actually what this status update was all about. To keep it short, the bounty has been assigned to RWO and Hitman/CodeHQ and work so far is progressing well .
Visit www.amigabounty.net and please keep the donations coming so spotUP and others can soon enjoy using allegro when porting stuff for OS4.

Once the OS4 port is completed it will be easy to port to OS3.x, MorphOS and AROS so you will see it in one or other Amiga variants ( Because in the worst case scenario, not all Amiga like options will fail )

hello,

I honestly like the bounty of the amiga when the money is keeped untill a working release of the program with bounty, not like mozilla (I think).

I have no AOS4 because no hardware and don't want to give money for a computer I don't have untill now (but of course would like to have a high end new amiga).

Sure if bounty is also announced for AOS3, It's verry good for me but give additionnal work for the developper. Don't know how work if version made for aos3 after is just little additionnal time to make one werdion who work.

I think It's will be more easy to have bounty when new hardware available, I hope in the futur.

I also would likt to know how technically work a bounty (where is the money, who and when the decision to give the money to the developper is made,....).

@Mrodfr

I think you're right about bounty's being easier in the future when hardware is available again.

The system is pretty simple, I am responsible for Amigabounty.net and keep the money on the paypal account (or for the Sputnik bounty on a bank account). Decision to pay the author is taken by me, when the criteria for the bounty has been fulfilled.

Hope you get some next gen hardware soon and are willing to contribute (ideas are also very welcome!).

Best regards
Troels Ersking,
