Internet News   Internet News : On-Line Petition - Will you help?
   posted by Mikey_C on 30-Apr-2007 21:13:19 (6765 reads)
Fans of the Amiga platform

I have created an online petition in the hope that it may make Amiga Inc and Hyperion Entertainment see sense and work together rather than fight each other.

The Petition reads:
"We, the undersigned ask that Amiga inc and Hyperion Entertainment to put aside their differences and work together to ensure the success of the Amiga platform for the benefit of all fans of the Amiga operating system"

-----------
url is http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/amiga/index.html

Please help, the larger the voice, the more chance we have of making them see sense. Tell your friends etc.

Sadly, i don't think this is enough.
What a sad ending to the Amiga history

Not really specific enough, Mikey. Amiga will see their way as the best way forward, especially if it means they get to keep their investment partners happy.

I think that Amiga Inc. and Hyperion would both love to put their differences aside and work together. They both believe that the other party is not doing their bit and is being unreasonable though.

Make them see sense with signatures? That must be the British tranquility. I'd vote for a good, old-fashinoned feet roasting.

I would have signed, but I am afraid that it will fall on deaf ears. They have never listened to their customers and I am not wasting $2 to let them not listen again. I am not spending one more dime on anything Amiga related until they get their act together and stop killing off what little customer base they have with their own stupidity. I feel sorry for those who put the work into making OS4 a reality and have to watch it destroyed so they can come out with some gumball OS that has nothing to do with Amiga. I always tried to keep a positive attitude, but it is not very positive now.

I hope AmigaOS 4 sources are released to the public before Amiga is forgotten forever.

Okay. ...in hope.

Addition: The list is a joke... too much kids/cheaters! Sorry but this project won't recognize ANY serious company.

> 16 Thomas Frieden Hey Amiga Inc., Removed quote for foul language, it somehow bypassed the language filter/tomazkid

I seriously doubt that Thomas Frieden would have signed the petition, and added such a rude comment.

Seeing how things have turned down between AInc and Hyperion, I don't think that a petition would do any more good than a court judgment. Especially if the petition form opens an arena to spammers/trolls, ...

I can't ask to AInc. and Hyperion to put aside their differences because I don't know yet what is really involved. I read the suit filled by AInc against Hyperion but didn't see the "November 2001 agreement" in the included exhibits (the later "Arctic agreement" which allowed Hyperion and the Friedens to port OS4.0 to the IBM device for a demo is, as I understand it, NOT the November 2001 one. AInc seems to use the terms from the "Arctic agreement" to invoke the termination of ALL agreement with Hyperion ... (?) ).
I'll wait to read the response from Hyperion to have a better opinion over the situation.

Saying that, I wish of course that anything that is preventing the AmigaOS to be accessible to endusers to be sorted out very soon.

@Mikey_C
I appreciate your sentiment, but given my belief in the reasons for the current lawsuit, I simply do not think that an on-line petition will make the slightest differences. But I won't waffle here, since my opinion is well stated elsewhere

well, looking at all those rude comments on the unmoderated petition site I begin to think that this community deserves this whole situation after all
