Events   Events : Pictures Posted from Ottawa Amiga Show
posted by terminator on 21-Nov-2004 14:30:30 (3313 reads)
I just posted a number of pictures from the Ottawa Amiga Show, held yesterday.

See the A1uC boards, including serial number one.

See smiling users with their new boards...

And other Amigas from the glory days of personal computing.

The link: http://tinyurl.com/4qsby

I'll try an make a fancier one a little later. Just an image gallery for now.

Important!
New Site!
Faster Site!

http://www.theconsultant.net/OAS04VNET/

kewl

Only took less than twenty minutes to exceed the quotas...

I'll have to put something on my usual website a little later, since their windows admins who know nothing about Linux have messed things up, I'll have to create a special one for there...

Try this one:

http://valleynet.on.ca/~michael/oas04.html

http://valleynet.on.ca/~michael/ is the main website, but there is no links to the OAS page.

Be Warned: It will be slow as molasses

The site is using dialup technology, and you have to move about 2M of data...
Another faster website is coming soon...

That's the only problem with geocities hosted sites.

Is the GX problem gone?
I know that MicroA1 was not supposed to come out with GX, so OS4 upd1 doens't have the required kernel to run it (a cpu cache problem?).

Nice little report, good picture... i'm, happy to see people happy with the new OS4 and A1 They rocks

THANKS Hyperion & Co.

Waddya mean, "the glory days of Amiga computing"? THESE are the glory days. We've never had so much choice, so much new technology and so much enthusiasm as we have now. There are just fewer of us to share the excitement (more for us).

Back in the olden days, people who ran MS-DOS on real pc hardware were considered a little odd. People ran all kinds of machines, from Apple ][ s, C64s, Ataris, etc. There were lots of Amigas out there, and lots of Amiga dealers.

Back when everything Windows now has was considered "unnecessary" by the snobbish MS-DOS crowd. These guys even looked down on windows...

Not like now, where everyone is more interested in being part of the herd...

As to the price of the A1... I got a flyer from FutureShop (where the future is still in the shop... ) and they are offering a free copy of HalfLife 2 if you buy a $400 ATI card. Or a $450 ATI based card, or a $300 Soundblaster card. A lot of these hardcore PC gamers wouldn't think twice about dropping C$800 for some RAM, a new graphics card, and a new SBlaster, just to play a new game. So what is wrong with dropping C$1000 for an A1?
