ALL THE BOUMA DOGS WILL...

Is there any chance we might be able to get a recording/transcript of that speech? I'm keen to hear Garry's views on the industry, that should give us some insight on what his plans for the amiga might be.

@ CodeSmith

Don't know if I would record anything, but I plan to be there.

Though I believe this event would be rather similar to the QSSL (QNX) conference (lots of "suits" and lack of topless dancers ) I went to quite some time ago to meet with CEO/President Dan Dodge, who was the keynote speaker. Sadly it became clear to me that Dan wasn't all too serious about the Phoenix Consortium, an Amiga community originated work group, we were both asked to be part of at the time.

I have much better expectations with regard to Garry due to various reasons.

Shouldn't that read "Dr. Garry Hare, Ph.D."? Oh, no, wait a sec...sorry, wrong "company"..

Ahem..

Seriously, this could mean that KMOS is just about ready to take the first step towards conquering that market, hopefully with the aide of a certain operating system that we all know and love.

@-Sam-

Well, even if it doesn't get mentioned by name, there ought to be a reference or two to the OS technology owned by KMOS, one would think.
I wouldn't bet too much that he'd be inclined to elaborate all that much on all things Amiga, though. "Well, you see, our main technology is the Amiga OS, now let me tell you a bit on that...it all started back in the days..."

@Bobsonsirjonny

"shell", you mean as in CON: ?

Oh, bother...I just can't help myself today, it seems...

But this does indeed sound like it's something. It would definitely be cool to get to know what the highlights were once it's happened.

@Mike

If you plan to be there I think we are MANY that would appreciate a record of the keynote speech.
I for one would be very happy to hear what Garry has to say in an audience like that networking event will attract. If it is in any way possible for you I hope you will consider to contact Gary (dunno how;) and ask for approval to record the speech.

Thanks in advance, Troels

Do you know if this meeting is open to the public? I am about an hour away and I am wondering if I would be allowed in?

@ Warrent

Yes, wear a suit and pay $15 general admission and I guess you will be fine. You can find contact information on the linked page if you want to be sure.

Hi Warrent,

If you go, could you make a colour laser printout of the "Amiga Phantasy"* to give to him?

They say there's a time and a place for everything.
I say, this ain't it.

I really dig that case as much as the next BAF (), but I don't think we want to pester Mr Hare with these type of issues at every given opportunity, regardless of the circumstances.

As a matter of fact, I doubt he'd have much to say on the topic anyway. Or what, he's gonna buy HW from Eyetech that he licenses to them in the first place, stuff it in a case, and become a retailer?

I'm sorry to come off as negative, as I would love to see that case hit the market. (Might even be incentive enough to get me a second A1 ), but I think we'd want to show ourselves from our best side as a community, at any opportunity we have to talk to any "key player". (Might be too late with Eyetech and Hyperion, though, they already know what kinds of nutcases we really are. )

Hi mjohnson,

I see your point, and accept it, we shouldn't be pestering them all over the palce, but, here's a VERY uncomfortable scenario:

October 1, 2004

I walker into a Tandy Radio Shack, and what do I see?

Boxes and boxes of PegasI II, in a VERY SIMILAR case, selling like (C=64) hotcakes!

What will we say THEN!!!????

AmigaOne! Pre-AOS4.0! We have One shot left!

Hi all,

I just hope that going wireless does not mean going PDA. My fear is that efforts are put in such devices and not on desktop platforms :-/

@ those who go there

Often at the end of such events, the public can ask questions. Just ask something about Amiga !

@elwood "I just hope that going wireless does not mean going PDA"

It would just mean more AOS market and more places where to run Amiga apps.

I think we would/will be "going" where PowerPC exists and fits in.
(set top boxes, next generation desktops, mobile tablet computers ...)

I think current PowerPC solutions do not fit too well on palm sized devices.

(unless IBM is preparing some super low power PPC405/440 + "mobile communication chip" that I am not aware of ...)

It would be wonderful if we could use AOS inside this. Archos were Amigans, it would be great to see them again

"Congratulations, Genesi"? No? That's not what you were thinking?

It's interesting to compare with the powers that be on the other side of the mirror though, things are quite a lot simpler over there as everything's sheltered under the same umbrella. While I don't know the corporate structure on the Blue side of things, it all falls under the control of the BBRV entity. So whether you want to talk about Peg, MOS or any marketing/casing strategies, I'd imagine they're "the guy" to see about it. Even if it's anything they'd be interested in or not, I figure you won't have to initiate your communication by questioning whether or not you are addressing the right person with your topic.

On our side, it's not as straightforward...I mean, who would be the proper person to seriously discuss the matter of a 1200-style case with?

But hey, it's a decent effort, and best of luck to whoever choses to pursuit it. And, while that person is at it, an Amiga-style standard PS/2 keyboard would be cool also. As well as an Amiga laptop..
