In september-october last year I wondered if I would be getting
an µA1 at all. Now it seems I may well be getting two of them.

The word is INCREDIBLE

I wonder what I'll do with the second one..
Any suggestions?

Maybe lend or sell it cheap to a developer? So we all can get those
great apps we need.

Me got to think really hard on this one..

@Samwel

Oh please, lend it to Deron Kazmeier, develpper of Pagestream!
He is doing an OS4 version, but has no A1 to test it, so he can
not go any farther!

@lucaricossa

First things first. I'll have to get the board
But it's actually looking good!

So how does one get in contact with Deron Kazmeier?
Or can one only go the Pagestreams homepage and
look him up there?

What's the story on this anyway? Why has he not got
a board already? I mean he's a major developer of a
VERY important application.

Hi Samwel,

Yeah, a bit odd, isn't it?

I guess they're a bit worried about how expensive it is to get one, vs. how many sales they could get.

I've pre-paid them in full, for the PPC AOS4.0 native version of PageStream, when it comes out. (Not the upgrade price.)

Very good choice, lucaricossa.

I've been thinking about this too, just yesterday. I might be coming into some money myself, later this year.

The person most important to me is Francois Lionet!!!!!!!

I MUST get his SW on AmigaOne/AOS4.0!!!!!

I've e-mailed him and asked if he'd be interest in writing for A1, but that was like a year ago, and the pre-release wasn't even out yet! Of course he said no, but he was diplomatic about it. Felt there wasn't enough customers yet, and he was right.

Dick van Dyke, George Lucas, H. Ross Perrot (the guy who ran for president), and Richard Branson (the Virgin Airlines/music stores etc. owner. They used to make Amiga software!) are other people I'd consider strongly.

AmigaOne! AOS4.0! YES, give to the RICH!!!!!! (Till it hurts!)

edit -
AAAAHHHHHHHH!!! If it was a whisper quiet microAmigaOne-I in an Amiga Fantasy case, and booting off of a 512 Meg. CF card on the motherboard. AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

@Samwel

Hi Guys,

I actually spoke to Deron by email last night and was in the process of lending him my Rev 0.0 Micro board ................. but if someone can lend him a "C" board that would be better.
Keep me posted as to what is happening with this as a number of us in Australia have been working together to get something happening for Deron ..................... PageStream OS4 is a must have in my view, and seeing as the "Power's that Be" can't seem to be able to help him out then it's left to us dealers/users. !!!

@Samwel

I don't think Eyetech is in the business of giving away boards. It's brutal but in the end sensible - without firm strategic direction from KMOS there is no point in investing heavily in the Amiga.

@-Sam-

Did anyone mention Eyetech

No it's not up to Alan to be giving away boards (we don't want no BBRV's here) but things were said by other parties that haven't been done. I don't intend to give away my board either and Deron has NOT asked for a free board ........................ a loaner is quite a different story though.

@-sam-

No, Eyetech should not give away board. But maybe support with
developer discounts? They want to sell more boards in the future?

@anythingamiga

Your right! It's Amiga Inc./KMOS that is supposed to give away boards,
not Eyetech.

We have very few developers of major professional software and
I think those are worth supporting.
Otherwise we might sone have none, what future does this platform
have with only hobby programs? No offense, your all doing a great
job developing. But we NEED professional software!

@Samwel

i allready promised to loan my "extra" boards away to people who can contribute in any way to the community ..apps/design etc.

i guess i could sell them but most of them doesnt have the cash so instead i will loan em away till they can either buy one for their own or buy out the one i lended them.

just saying..if u want to there is many options , imho we need os4 native versions of things like "hollywood/designer" and "pagestream" + "fryingpan" and we have that guy in finland who makes 3d games (shareware) ...many options and the real choice would be for them who can lend away a board or sell it cheap etc.

cheers

He's always replied to my email when I've sent to the techsupport email address on their web site.

However, I've attempting to my 4.1 to 5.0 pro, and haven't been able to get anyone on their phone line during the hours specified, nor replies to my voice messages there. It's a pecuilar upgrade, so not really covered in the online ordering options.

I'd already had the upgrade to 4.1 before I did the upgrade to 4.1 for AOS4.

I don't want to go double paying anything, so I want to talk to someone in person.

He can borrow my A1

@Samwel

I would lend it. Then that way you could later lend it to someone else and get more bang per A1.

I don't really want to give up mine, but perhaps we should find Amiga Developer wanabes that are local to us. Invite them over to see an Amiga1 first hand and perhaps even let them use our A1's to do testing/porting on.

@Samwel

I already wrote in this thread to give your second A1 to Deron. He has tried to get an A1, but here's the result (from the PGS mailing list)

Deron himself is writing this:

Quote:
I have spoken to Ben at Hyperion in the past, but nothing has materialized.
As I understand it, they are both in effect just developers as I understand
it. It would be up to Amiga Inc or now KMOS? to support developers in this
way. Either way, when they complete OS4 I will purchase my own system. As I
have said before, with all the past false starts I am in no hurry to
purchase the equipment. Look, they have already created new hardware since
the initial announcements oh so long ago!

I've contacted someone who could possibly be interested in A1 hardware for software development. Stay tuned...

@Samwel

Due to lack of eager developers, put it up somewhere for the "general" public to use it as a workstation. :

Except that I must second that Pagestream motion.
