@Franko

That would be interesting. Also means if someone who was community minded could essentially make it far easier for groups to make software under the Amiga banner.

@terminills

I know what you mean. It's something I personally wouldn't want to get involved in.

But nonetheless, had they made the trademark like e.g. Asus did (where the entry says: "G & S: parts for computers.") it'd be different.... but their trademark is actually specific and clearly excludes "parts" and "cases" - so I'm certain they can't do anything about a case.
If he sold a motherboard in it, they'd have due cause, but just selling a case? Not a problem. The case can be called "Amiga" and they don't own that.

@ Everyone

This thread has gone way off topic and it should be about TheDaddy's case not trademarks and opinions on them...

I had already asked earlier if all the posts could be moved or deleted, so if anyone want's to continue this topic please start another thread and leave this one to be about TheDaddy's case...

They already Sell Machines using the Amiga name for Hardware and don't use the name for software.

Ciao,

To Italy? £575,500 + postage and packaging...

Lira that is oh...wait, we joined the Euro didn't we?

I don't know yet, need to do spend more money on it on Thursday, and again on Friday...(need to sort out the LEDs to the left, see if a black prototype can be made, make a bracket for the DVD and a few other small things.).

I'll let you know.
Thanks.

@TheDaddy

I did not want to tell you, Loriano.

As a friend of a person, who have an uncle married with a cousine of a man working at FiFa, you have to remove the cup from your avatar.
Afx risks to be sued to. The Renč boyfriend had a phone call with a friend of the uncle previously mentioned about the avatar afx uses since years, with a mandatory request by their attorneys to remove the user from the forum, but keep the picture :)

Trademarks and copyright is killing human spirit of invention.
And its only good for the moneyhungry gimps.

Btw I still think RetroCase would be a good name

Atleast copyright should have a VERY short timespan.

@AmigaBlitter The name amiga blitter is clearly a reference to the amigas blitter. This name is the property of Gateway? Acer? Amiga inc? Commodore gaming?Cusa? Hyperion? Papa Smurf?

Sounds like a good idea. Here are some more hints for anybody who wants to start a thread about trademarks:

1. Please don't listen to Franko, "clueless" is the most polite description that comes to mind in his case.

2. Contrary to popular (in the US) believe, US laws - and thus, US trademarks - are only relevant to US citizens and to whatever countries the US are currently bombing to freedom. Last time I checked, Italy was still considered a sovereign country - despite Berlusconi's best efforts. They even have their own trademarks database, imagine that!

3. Barry and his... erm... 'staff' (for lack of a better word) like to feel important. They probably haven't paid a single cent of licensing fees for the Commodore name (they didn't pay anything until December and they are renegotiating since then, IIRC) and they most certainly didn't pay for the Amiga license yet. They get all of this attention and the accompanying hard-on for free. Best way to make them feel miserable is to ignore them.

@cgutjahr

Did someone here already mention what a nice case TheDaddy has been building? That it is amazing how willing he is to put more than every dime he owns into this project just to fulfill about everybody's wishes? I think a salute to TheDaddy is in place here!

@TheDaddy
TheDaddy, I'm not sure what is what you're missing in 'finishing' the case. If it's technical drawings that have to be made / modified then sent me a PM, I'm more then willing to help you out. I've got the experience and the access to the CAD tools (and license to use them) to do so.

Priceless!

Really, is that a possibility? Is it possible that Amiga Inc. have given the name out on a loan basis?

See Baron`s interview. Seems House of Harkonnen has obtained rights to "spice melange name and appearance" (but not spice itself) from Imperial House Corrino (or in facts its legal leftovers) for a summ + per machine licence (why both?). We don`t know how much Harkonnen`s customers pay tax per machine as well as how much Barron cashed.

Also, exclusive perpertual worldwide rights of House Harkonnen have a time limit
Quote:
On Dec 22, 2011 Commodore USA, LLC and Amiga Inc. signed a new contract granting us EXCLUSIVE WORLDWIDE rights to ALL format computers branded with the Amiga trademark IP. These registered trademarked logos include the BOING Ball, TIC/Check mark, letter A and the word AMIGA logos. Form factors include, but are not limited to Desktop, HTPC, Tower AIO/ Keyboard etc. This contract will run through Dec 31, 2018, with optional renewal

So Imperial house`s income (beside grand sales of Snowman) must be dependent on sales of the new Sardakaur Mini (since older Sardakaur C64x shouldn`t be related to imperial houses licence).
And they have chosen House of Harkonnen as most loyal and trustworthy partner.
