@amitv

I just want the credit for playing the game and guessing the product!

Texas Instruments DaVinci DM3730 Cortex-A8 ARM with three coprocessors. Nice add-on for the SAMs.

Anyone interested?

As, much to my own disappointment, I cannot read Italian, could some explain what this device is for? Is it meant to be an accelerator for Sam boards?

@HenryCase

Sort of.

From what I have gathered, it has 3 co-processors onboard able to run three 1080p (1080i?) videos at the same time or numerous ones at lower resolutions. It's also got a 1GHz ARM processor, ethernet and AV IN/OUT.
And 64 DMA channels (I have still got no idea what this is but I am trying to understand over at amiganews.it).

And it's got: 1 DSP Fixed and Floating point ad 1 GHZ

For you techieheads!

Smells like old Amiga (accelerator, co-processors, extra memory)...intriguing, I hope it materialises.

I hate it when someone talks about something cool about Amiga and I don't understand their language. Anyone felt the same way ever?

More small pieces of info...

The card shoud connect to the PCI-E on the 460 and possibly the PCI of the 440. It is an interesting project, I wonder how long it'd take to complete...

i don't understand, really, what you would like to go..
AmigaOS4 is not able to exploit sam440 hardware and you hope in this project?
There are many things to do on OS4 for old sam440 and in this case you have to write driver and software for this, again, embedded hardware.

I think, Monalisa is more ambitious than AmigaOne X1000.
Maybe in real market, this card is ok, is well known and used very well..but here?

Assemble you to have maximum with AmigaOS4 hardware and then, add new powerful add-on.

Drivers are needed for this card to work. Once we have got the drivers it's done

@amitv

Nice idea, design and name, congrats to companies involved and would love to
see DaVinci based products, its enough to power a laptop, nettop, handheld and mobile devices.

Loved Texas Instruments chips, idea is nice
but how can AmigaOS 4 utilize ARM co-processors?

If its not 66Mhz PCI card with proper voltage, it will not be able to be used on 440,
and for 460 proper sound driver is needed to let PCI slot free. If its PCI-E card, 460 users would have to give up Gfx card for onboard one (PCI 16x slot) or SATA controller onboard (when PCI-E 1x slot used) or SATA controller from PCI-E slot and SAM 440 users would not be able to use without some PCI-E->PCI converter.

Software that would demand speed is needed, and OS4 really needs some development first for current hardware, including emerging A1-X1000.

It would be good to see some kind of interesting expansions like it was back in Commodore days. XMOS PCI card for SAMs would be nice if there would be a lot of uses for XMOS. This kind of card too ...

Connection via pci-e, so it would be compatible also for the AmigaOne X1000?

OpenGL and USB 2.
i'd like to remember you that today USB 2 run on every usb chip controller with usb2 speed
without problems.
AmigaOS4 can now offer full openGL 3 acceleration and full supporto to thousand USB2 device on every controller?
Can you play 720p video at full framerate with your old G3@600 mhz?

And then..your gpu is able to help main cpu to play hd video?

Sorry, Sam440 is not heavely esploited.

Monalisa, will be another great technoloy that AmigaOS4 will not be able to use in decent way.
