Sorry, all the programs I use under AROS are either not available on AmigaOS 3.x, or just running better natively on AROS.
I won't offend your intelligence (and the ones of who is reading us) explaining why I prefer, in my spare time, using an AmigaOS-like operating system on my PC instead of Windows and Linux. Even if they have far better features and applications than AROS, but also than AmigaOS and MorphOS. Incidentally, Linux runs also on the same hardware someone else here uses for AmigaOS and MorphOS: why aren't you suggesting those people to use their Macs and SAMs for Linux instead?

Aros is crap not worth using. Install WinUAE instead.

Constructive criticism that isn't. Simple question - have you even tried a recent release of AROS before outright calling it crap?
Just because it may not meet your exacting standards, doesn't make it a waste of time or effort. Many components of AROS have found their way back into both MOS and AOS, so its existence has benefited all variants._________________ Test sig (new) |

Sounds like the problem I'm having with my Efika. Is Icaros based around a linux kernel?
Managed to boot the rescue kernel ok, and unpack the suse image/kernel to the (external USB) hard-drive. When booting from the installed system, the installed kernel initially boots, but then fails to find the root filesystem.
I've also had some issues due to the slow startup of the external CD drive - sometimes I have to enter the boot command twice into the OFW prompt as the filesystem is not always detected in time on first spinup. I've found that appending "rootdelay=20" to the boot command seemed to help, presumably giving sufficient time for the cd drive to spin up/become ready before attempting to probe the root filesystem (although this could just be co-incidence). Feels very Amiga-ish, perhaps I should try sacrificing a chicken...
From the kernel debug output, it seems that the usb>/ata_atapi bridge is detected, but the drives themselves are not probed correctly. Consequently, the only listings in /dev (aside from various tty.. consoles, etc) are several usbdevx.x, and (with none of the expected sdax, sdbx, etc).
Not currently sure if it is due to kernel options/module settings, as I've managed to successfully boot the installed system with an alternative kernel.
Not much direct help in your situation, but I thought it might shed some light on the failure of the boot process. _________________ Troll - n., A disenfranchised former potential customer who remains interested enough to stay informed and express critical opinions. opp., the vast majority who voted silently with their feet. |

I went to install WinUAE on my hardware and I get an error can you help? Is there an install CD or something? I can't find a live version of WinUAE either. Maybe I am doing something wrong here? I have newer Intel system that is 1 year old. I have new hard drive freshly formatted.
Please tell me how to install this great WinUAE so I can do things like play x264 vids and use the latest GCC4.x!!

According to the AROS wikibook, the NC10 has a Marvell Ethernet adapter that has no AROS driver. But does it matter that much when the WiFi works? |
