| Does anyone know what battery is right for the GVP Jaws II?
The writing on the battery says: DS TIC 1494 618AC 9310A5
The only result I get when putting that into Google is a Finnish Amiga user having the same problem. I thought it might be:
http://www.watchbattery.co.uk/shop/products/BAGP-625A.shtml
Based on dimensions, but I assumed it would be a 3V cell. Its only putting out 0.2v so I can't even tell you what it is putting out without seeing a circuit diagram of the board.
I have PM'd someone on amiga.org who said they had a pdf manual, in case its in there. If anyone else has a clue, please let me know. It is not as wide as a CR8032 and it is about twice the height (I don't have a micrometer but with a ruler its about 17mm by 5mm ish).

| Local shop didn't have one - will either leave it out our buy a new battery holder and house a more industry standard battery. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

| I will just bump this in case anyone has one of these and knows something. Not the end of the world - but I can't be doing with soldering on a different battery holder.
I know GVP tried to make more money by using their own proprietary RAM but I doubt they wanted to supply replacement batteries too, did they?! _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

| By Jove I think I have found it! Got a reply from Michael at GVP and he said it wasn't a battery exactly but a single wire RTC with a battery inside. They were originally developed by Dallas Semiconductor and now iButton develops them and other 1 wire devices such as ID fobs for EPOS systems to temperature monitoring and storage of data. Link.
Going from that site to the UK distributor (there are other distributors - see link above for links to other resellers), I have purchased one which I shall try when it arrives: Link. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

I still have my original box and manual and it says...
The clock battery in your A1230 Turbo+ is rated for ten years of constant use. Any time after that it may need to be replaced. You MUST use a #DS1994 clock/battery as replacement.
This is for the GVP A1230 Turbo+ Performance Series II

PS: I can PDF the manual if you like. I am fortunate I have the SCSI also... I loved the card and in 1994 cost me around £350 if I recall. Probably still got the receipt. Bought it from Silica in Southampton. There is also a software disk.
I think you have the Jaws II though not the Performance Series II that I have. The battery looks the same though. ... just read your post again.

I don't think that Dallas chip model is available anymore, I have looked everywhere. Mine is only outputting 0.3v now but perhaps it is not needing to supply more than control voltage. I will try a new one, as most of the voltage is for internal circuitry, I doubt it will cause damage, it might just be in a different format (the binary info sent to the accelerator) - I will keep you posted.
If you could send me the PDF that would be great. Its michael at amiga600 dot net

| **** Update ****
I tried the chip from the link above and it DOES NOT WORK in this card. Worth a try though. Whilst I had the GVP removed I tried the one that it came with and it was only out by one minute! So I have left that one in.... I thought it didn't have enough charge to even run the clock but now we know the clock is inside....
... if GVP have the actual ones in stock I will get one when I get my 2x16MB simms to replace my 2x4MB but everything is fine for now. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

A crude pic of my benchmark for the A1230 Turbo+ II which appears to be exactly the same as the Jaws II (difference anyone?)

I dont think there is any difference... These entries from the Big Book plus links to page and software from the Amiga Resources site...
Jaws II
Processor: 030@40Mhz or 030@50Mhz FPU: Optional 68882 (PGA) at the same speed as the processor. MMU: Internal Max Ram: 32MB Ram Type: 2 x GVP 64pin SIMM slots.

Thanks very much, I have saved the document to my computer. Just to let everyone know Michael @ GVP-M has confirmed the correct replacement part for the GVP Turbo II Clock in a Can is:
link.
Also, as well as some other funky stuff, GVP-M have listed some 16MB GVP Simms. I have bought some so I will then have 32MB instead of my 8MB I currently have - look out for my 2x4MB GVP Simms on eBay soon!
