@SOFISTISOFTWARE

huff, can you try for a day or two with ibrowse blacklisted in petunia?

let us know how that goes.

also, next time save the crashlog just incase.

You aint using the mem hack that xeron uploaded right? (as that will crash ibrowse among other things)

PS:i am not having this problem and atm no tips either, but if it works when blacklisted it might give a pointer or two.

@SOFISTISOFTWARE

See this thread here
and also try blacklisting it from Petunia.

@SOFISTISOFTWARE

No DSI errors here when using IBrowse. Is that the answer you wanted?

@SOFISTISOFTWARE

Although not a betatester or developer of neither OS4.0 (-components) nor of IBrowse I can state that I have not one single problem here too with IB2.4 on OS4.o Final!

It really flies!

@SOFISTISOFTWARE

are you using the OS4 OEM version or the demo? if your using the Demo installed through its installer, check carefully if you have the right OS4 javascript.library and codecs for 040 (IIRC)

Another cause could be a MUI class but here i have no clue on how MUI is installed on AmigaOS4.

@Framiga

BINGO! i founded the problem: ibrowse like other 68k apps could create problems when we launch first other bugs apps, my problem was Ital3.01 (english/italian translator) when i close this program show me a nice DSI and i clicked on ignore or end, at this point if i launched ibrowse it give me a dsi related to network task, another example is amigawriter68k if i launched it after that i used Ital3.01 and after i closed it and ignore grim reaper, the AOS4 show me DSI related to amigawriter and if i try to ignore it my system freezed. The new memory system is fast and if there are bugs 68k programs to run on it could create problems, but with good program or native program is more stable, thanks to all OS4 developer for final update ! I hope to see a boingbag with features/bugfixing and with AmigaInput, powerpc.library, warp3dPPC.library with perfect emulation of old hyperion games.

Whenever I try to load this urban image

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/89/248090864_b488b894a1_o.jpg

I get a DSI error, well when I say ever, it's done it 3 times now!

Edited to add just tried it in Aweb and the GR on me, this time giving a aWebjifi decoder DSI crash

This is a really large image (12329x1084) so therefore requires approx 52Mb of ram, and probably a contiguous block of ram too. It's hard to say, especially without seeing the crashlog, but I suspect it's a low memory or gfx memory/driver problem, or something like that. It loads up fine on OS3.9. Given that it happens in AWeb as well as IBrowse, this goes someway to confirming its an OS issue. Have you tried downloading that image and viewing it with Multiview?

@Futaura

I have random start/quit grims using the registered version of IB2.4 on final. I just put IB back on the blacklist to see if they still happen. That image loads fine here on my micro & 512Mb or ram. I'll leave IB on the blacklist unless the DSIs errors come back.

Edit: by the way, my IB install requires 2 keys, IBrowse1key & IBrowse2key, to work. I tryed with just IBrowse2key, but no go.

@Stephen_Robinson

Ok, well that confirms it. It's an OS issue, probably in rtg.library, if not gfxcard driver related. Maybe you will be able to load that image using the internal IBrowse image decoders instead of external datatypes.

On A4k/PicassoIV/OS4/128MB and without Petunia I can display the picture with
AWebPPC, when downloading it to RAM: MultiView reports "Out of memory".
No crash. So its IMHO not rtg.library, it may be gfxcard driver related.

After quitting AWeb there was enough memory free and MultiView could
display the picture. So its also not a problem of the jpeg.datatype.
