Hey everyone,

I just wanted to say that I really like the atmosphere here. AmigaWorld.net reminds me of what USENET was like ten years ago. Friendly people with a genuine interest for the AmigaOS platform.

.......

Thanks, guys.

You post 6 times in 8 and (almost half) months and have this to say?

That's really cool to have spent 16.66% of your posts saying something complimentary!

AmigaOne! AOS4.0! Jump on the bandwagon!

Hey hnl_dk,

thanks for the offer, but I'll pass - I'll stick to Scratchy, for the time being (as Poochy the Dog wasn't available). I appreciate the offer, though. :)

Atheist,

I'll usually post only when I have something to express that I think is of general interest. :) Comments like this totally dilute both my statistics and my philosophy, heh.

To everyone who has welcomed me here: thank you all. Altough I appreciate it, it's not necessary - when I first became a member of AmigaWorld.net, I was welcomed just a few hours after my membership submission by Mike. Although I mostly read the news feed, the forums and the "Fleecy Feature", I've felt part of the AW spirit right from the start .

I love it here, every so often I get itchy feet, and find an interesting sounding thread elsewhere. Each time the same thing happens, some little debate takes shape then one of us (usually me) steps over some invisible line and the whole thing is wasted and no debate takes place, and then I retreat chastened, vowing never to return.

I like speaking my mind civilally, I like people to disagree or take on some aspect I barely thought about, I like things to develop, but I hate wasting time when people are playing games.

I just spent a few days on a "foriegn" thread where one participant kept throwing facts and figures at everything I said - it took a little while, feeling a foolish that my opinion was ill founded until I decided that despite the facts and figures this person was not actually saying anything at all - they were playing a game of "I know more than you", they weren't actually arguing for anything or answering anything, just selective quoting and a "fact" thrown against it.

In short, why waste anybodies time, why bother replying at all. Back to Amigaworld and sanity.

Greg

Yes... my time is short. So I want a more active AWorld.net

(emphasis in quote mine)

I'll just back away now lest I destroy goodwill running throughout this thread.

I think that Amiga.Org is actually a much nicer site. At least they talk about other Amiga stuff besides Amiga One and OS 4. I get so sick of seeing and hearing about the Amiga One and OS 4 all the time here on Amiga World. Most people here do NOT even know how to use Workbench 3.9 to its fullest extent and they are already wanting a new Amiga OS. They are never satisfied with what they have. I own an Amiga One G4, but I actually like my Amiga 2500 with Kickstart / Workbench 1.3 better, because ALL of my over 1000 vintage Amiga disks work on it and they work very well.
