few questions...

I assume there are two versions of AOS3.9 CD.
First (blue one) contains AmigaOS3.9 and second (pink?) contains AOS3.9 together with installed BoingBag39-1, am I right?

If so, how can I identify the pink edition od AOS3.9 from the script when this CD is inserted?
Or does anyone try to install BB39-1 onto this pink version of CD? Does the installer silently proceed or does it report an error message: boingbag 1 is already installed (or something like that)???

As far as I am aware there were indeed 2 OS3.9 CD's pressed, the first batch being a bit broken and the 2nd batch fixing that.. I assume any further batches are of the 2nd batch type.

Neither contain BoingBag1....

Heres a cut and paste from http://www.gregdonner.org/os39faq/installtips.html that might help:

Q:

I've heard there are revised copies of the OS 3.9 CD (a "Second Edition" or "SE" version); how do I know if I have one, and how do they differ?

A:

The "Second Edition" CD should be pink; the original CD should be 'warm red'. Also, if your CD has files dated January 26, 2001 (or later) in the root directory, you have the newer "SE" CD. The original CD has no newer files than November 29, 2000.

The Second Edition CD contains various corrections to the installation script. However, please note that when installing OS 3.9 as an update only--NOT a full install, the installation script overwrites the S:Startup-Sequence file. Make sure you create & rename a backup copy of your original Startup-Sequence file before installation.

Regardless, Boing Bag 3.9-1 fixes most of the issues and problems with the first batch of CDs. There should be no real need for someone who has a first edition/original CD to buy a second edition CD if Boing Bag 3.9-1 is correctly installed.

@Ryu

The second edition (the pink one) mainly has an advantage when istalling it on UAE. This one has an special installer for UAE and works without any of the tricks needed for the first edition.
