| Is there a VNC server for OS4? You could set it up on the second A1 and let me test my Amiga IDE code on it _________________ ... |

| The MOS users are making quite some noise about some shareware that has reached alpha state, I think it's called Pixel32 or similar. Maybe someone can loan an A1-board to the developer so he can also make an OS4-port ? Just a thought, IIRC the program didn't look bad at all.
Edit: Damn, should read postings more carefully Last edited by Mr.Return on 26-Jan-2005 at 03:31 PM.

Before he could even entertain porting his software, you would need a port of FPC for AOS4. _________________ Test sig (new) |

Pixel32 is a program very similar in looks/features to Photoshop. It is however written using Pascal, and unless a port of FPC is made for OS4, the author of Pixel32 cannot even contemplate porting his software over to it.
MOS has has a port of that for some time and the developer of Pixel32 was donated a Pegasos upon which to work. It does look like a very nice application (hooligan can comment more as he has managed to test the MOS version on his Peg), and it is one that would be nice to have on OS4 is possible at some stage. But that all really does depend on whether the author of it is willing and able to make it happen. _________________ Test sig (new) |

Is the 68k port not sufficient?

Free Pascal (aka FPK Pascal) is a 32 or 64 bit (from 1.9.6) pascal compiler. It is available for different processors Intel x86, Amd64/x86 64 (from 1.9.6), PowerPC (from 1.9.2), Sparc (from 1.9.6) and Motorola 680x0 (1.0.x only). The following operating systems are supported Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, MacOSX/Darwin, MacOS classic, DOS, Win32, OS/2, BeOS, SunOS (Solaris), QNX and Classic Amiga.

MorphOS isn't listed either. |

IMHO If the application can easily be ported to ClassicAmiga, then it could run on AOS4 through E-UAE the time this application is rewritten in C (which I think would be better/faster than Pascal) to run on Native-PPC.
This is just a guess...

Not on the front where you would expect no, but it is mentioned....

As for 68k, well it may work under OS4, but I am fairly sure I read it doesn't work atm. I am not sure if the 68k port also is able to produce native PPC code, which I suspect the MOS port would._________________ Test sig (new) |

I agree with Pagestream as well but what about the writer of PPaint? Is he even working with Amigas anymore? Forgive my ignorance but a tweaked ppc version would be cool.

| I wasn't planning to announce this until I'd got permission to reproduce the exact text of the email, but I can paraphrase it and it seems to fit this thread well.
Basically, a while a go there was a thread on ANN where someone who claimed to be from Titan claimed that they would port Papyrus if they had the hardware. I followed this up with Titan and they said:
* They would need 2 AmigaOnes - for development and support * 53 people would need to buy the software to cover costs * 143 buyers would be needed if they had to pay for the A1s themselves * They seem to doubt that these numbers will exist, if OpenOffice is ported.
If OpenOffice porting stalls, this could definitely be an option (even if no-one lends them an A1). _________________
