I do not need to explain why they (Hyperion) should be careful with promises or "plans". Assuming people buy Tabor and there is only the slow FPU emulation and the fast one needs a long time or is not possible at all whyever (not uncommon in complex software) or is not compatible enough customers will be very disappointed and another round of Hyperion bashing. I like Cyborgs style, honest explanations. The others should take over that style too. Just my 2 cents. |

This is how things are expressed in the English language. It is the expression of a plan. Plans do not not always work though.

how can he say that if it not exists and is only idea or planning? Software development is complex, you never know what can happen or if everything works like you hope. |

I trust Cyborg there more than the others...
If true expecially the FPU part is embarrassing... they claimed no problem, compatible and fast |

seems again that even within the os4 team contradicting informations are being distributed. reminds a bit the situation with netbook. at least today there is apparently a decent person to clarify the stuff a bit, as he did with the sdk headers affair. |

that there is a market for 500 X5000 is also surprising to me. And regarding Tabor we will see...
the second core is unused for unforeseeable time. And roadmap after 4.2 ready in just 4 more weeks Last edited by OlafS25 on 19-Oct-2015 at 09:45 AM.

You forgot from your list: 4 people having only CS PPC and still struggling bravely with it's 128MB! Tabor will be a HUGE improvement in all respect to them (as would be almost anything!). And what is the best, you can probably fund it just by selling your CS PPC. |
I bet most of them want to keep using their classic machines first and foremost.
And from what I can see from this thread, a lot of people are category 1; people who will upgrade regardless. That is fine and all since new hardware is fun, but I doubt they represent the vast majority. _________________ Amiga Forum - Sweden's best Amiga Magazine

No. The board is knwn to the MorphOS team since a while and has not been considered as a viable MorphOS target yet. The incompatible FPU is a major stopper and there's no urgend need for this board for MorphOS and development resources are better spend elsewhere. There's plenty other hardware supported already (many G4/G5 Macs, Pegasos1+2, Efika5200B, Sam460, X5000).

Considering that neither the SAM:s nor Tabor are powerhouses I doubt people will upgrade to get slightly faster, but still slow, hardware. More likely the buyers will be people who 1, buys everything anyway, 2, people who thought the SAM 460 was just a little too expensive and 3, people whos hardware is broken or has become flaky. Unless of course the board is dirt cheap (like 100€ cheap). |

| The board in the system I saw here at Amiwest looked very good. Sure OS4.1 isnt running on it yet but give it time. I think you will all be quite impressed with it. Its clean and very well thought out from what I can see.
