Overlay doesn't work correctly. Watch a 4:3 clip on a widescreen screen and you will get a grey background (empty AOS-screen).

IIRC the altivec-version has som memory leak.

What's a "wide screen" ? Do you mean High resolution >1900 pixels or just the aspect rartion? (16:9)

and do you mean you get a grey border? or no video at all? The former is correct behaviour even if you mkight rather have a black border it's just a border.

Hotrod is right : MUI-Mplayer (Kas1e's port) lacks some features and still contains some bugs with the p96_pip feature.

Anyway, it is the most recent port of MPlayer for AmigaOS 4.1 but I would not mind an updated version.

@Kicko

Speaking of MUIMplayer,
I don't succeed to resize MUIMplayer window on non Overlay gfx card.

Do I miss a setting on MUIMplayer ?

Hopefully that SDLMplayer works well and allow to resize the video window.

P96 code is grab from the previous mplayer port from afxgroupd, and it uses the same p96 overlay code. So, if in mui-mplayer overlay mode you have bugs, you probably have the same bugs in first mplayer from afxgroup. But If not, then its for sure porting bugs and they can be fixed by me. But if bugs the same, then its more up to some skilled devs to make fixes on p96 driver.

Expectually that bug with white/grey border for sure presented in the original p96_driver. If anyone will fix it, i can easy rebuild new version. There relevant files to fix:

https://code.google.com/p/mplayer-amigaos/source/browse/trunk/src/libvo/vo_p96pip.c
https://code.google.com/p/mplayer-amigaos/source/browse/trunk/src/libvo/vo_p96pip.h

As far as i know, you can't resize in real-time without overlay (when cgx_wpa mode in use), and its the same on morphos too and intended.

edit: yes, checked latest morphos version: in cgx_wpa you can't resize main video window.

@Kicko

As for "videos plays too fast", Fab says its wellknown issue in the version sources of which are open , and later it was fixed. But, i didn't have those fixed sources, as well as i can't found them on his page. If you will ask him nicely maybe he will share latest ones , or at least upload diff which will fix it.

Thank you for the confirmation.

MickJT, to read streamed videos on non Overlay system, your SDL version is great !

It deserves to be released

@kas1e

This overlay-bug is exclusive ot the muimplayer version and you even comented on it yourself when you had ported it. That and a small memory leak if the altivec-version is used. Everything except the actual movie is black in afxgroups version when using overlay and with muimplayer you will see part of an empty AOS screen (grey background, white titlebar). If the movie is in 16:9 format it will fill the whole screen if you got such a screen so it isn't noticable then but any 4:3 format video has this issue.

Which bug ? That "white/grey" background ? If i remember right it also present in the p96_overlay code from afxgroup. Or it was something in system, dunno. I remember there was some thread on hyperion's forum, where we found how to reproduce it with afxgroup's mplayer and why it wasn't noticed here. And on that everything stops.

edit: i think that was thread about : http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1005&hilit=mplayer

That leak reported on bugs.os4depot.net / muimplayer ? Did morphos/altivec version have the same leak or its porting leak ?

Indeed, mPlayer is the only YouTube player available for AmigaOS 4.1.

There is also ffplay from the ffmpeg package.

@zzd10h

I've been told it's quite slow, even on X1K. I don't mind if you share it around (but post your own links, mine will expire). If someone wants the latest one from yesterday, they can message or e-mail me. It's a very crude port, commenting out stuff until it works :)

I was getting a "Select error: No such file or directory" message in the shell a few times per second when playing a video, and didn't know why. I commented out the error message.

It's in input.c:

if (select(max_fd + 1, &fds, NULL, NULL, time_val) < 0) {
if (errno != EINTR)
mp_msg(MSGT_INPUT, MSGL_ERR, MSGTR_INPUT_INPUT_ErrSelect,
strerror(errno));
FD_ZERO(&fds);
}

That's taken out of context, so it probably doesn't make any sense just pasting that. I doubt I'll be able to understand what's happening there unless I learn C. I could take another brief look.

I should probably add a stack cookie before sending it to anyone else.

Edit: Looks like the mplayer-amigaos on SVN does this:

#ifndef __amigaos4__
if (errno != EINTR)
mp_msg(MSGT_INPUT, MSGL_ERR, MSGTR_INPUT_INPUT_ErrSelect,
strerror(errno));
#endif

So me commenting it out wasn't so bad after all :)

Edit2: Typos/proofreading etc.

@MickJT

I didn't sent to anybody your latest version.

Strange that somebody say to you that it's slow, even the previous one was not slow (to be honest, I didn't seen speed differences between the 2).

I use it really often to watch yt videos (320p MP4, greater is slow but worst with muimplayer) and the sound is always, really always, synchronised (not the case with muimplayer).

Which YouTube video do you (or ppl who say that it's slow) stream to try to compare ?

The issue with overlay I have never seen in afxgroups version. Regarding memory leak that was something you wrote once muimplayer was ported. I will not search for some old thread to point it out to you but I do remember what was written. Deny it if you like, I don't care.
