Overreacting to what? It has nothing to do with this long winded nothing but a useless troll thread. But it's ok to have a useless troll thread as long as it's to protect "teh name from evil opportunistic people"

And yet, you're here contributing to same, correct?
*cough*

I consider it personal opinion being stated -- if people can't extract that out from this thread, and leave the superfluous to one side, why bother even signing on? As for 'trolling', the 'troll' posts have been taken care of, if people don't agree they can either hit report or grow a thicker skin, for pity's sake.

@ALL

If you really think somebody gives a damn about "securing license" of just "Amiga", or creating distros and hardware to sell them "to the amiga community", you are even more mistaken that usual.

They are just Amiga fans tired of watching the platform being thrown down in the toilet, so they took it with a very PRAGMATICAL approach (let's get linux take care of the drivers and some apps for now, and build an Amiga system with style, support and dualboot Aros, and let's see how can we improve in the future from there).

The same for hardware: OK, x86 is the best option for now, let's support ppc and arm where possible and partnership with special manufacturers that have some "Amiga" style in their configurations.

What more could you wish for at this moment? take the world by storm???

Although I am more an Aros and Arm supporter, I wish them the best. I think it's a great plan (it can be even improved) and I think they will become the future of the platform more and more until the "classic" manufacturers and supporters (and forums) will be just a cute "resistance" in the Amiga OS forums, but something that no one will care at all.

I just think we should be Fair and nominate everyone who deserves a nomination. Not just the select few that the nomination committee isn't allowed to publicly agree with. :)

@OlafS25

I was informed that because there are now so many "He who shall not be named" we need to give them numbers.

So this would be "He who shall not be named 2" >.<

@vision

I have tried to find just one related forum (what you would expect with 12.000 user and new sales). Zero and nothing. So I honestly have some doubts about what he said.

Do you think numbering is practical there?

We should stop otherwise we get both new reports. And I do not want to compete with wawa here

the brand shared for different products/platforms is a good idea

why is this any good? id will not unite the camps simply because you can run all on one machine. moreover it was announced that you will be able to do that on amigaone500/sam460 anyway. isnt it brand enough? must that be amiga, licensed by amigainc? to me its all the same.

That's a good start but we must not be so one sided. It's not fair that other communities are left out from being nominated. :)

I could imagine that it would have helped from a marketing point of view. But it is all theoretical from my point of view. AROS can and will very good live on its own. More important is that f.e. ARM support (Raspberry, Efika MX) and other projects go on.

@OlafS25

what marketing? aros is free of charge. aros wouldnt and couldnt be a primary system on that hardware. its barely mentioned as a stop gap solution, mostly in context of closing the gap to os4 in ntherms of compatibility and drivers. given that kind of motivation what do you think, would aros gain something or would others try to gain something form aros (which is neither bad nor prohibited thing, just an observation).

Wawa we do not need to discuss. How it is proposed now (if this really a serious planning) it will not really help. The idea that AROS is preinstalled by hardware companies and these companies then invest in driver support or even functionality is good (it is how Linux became big). But anyway I do not believe him at the moment because there was much marketing blabla in the chat and when there were direct questions he avoided them to answer (f.e. when asked with which amiga projects his stuff was involved), only general phrases. And a community with 12.000 members without any forum sounds a little strange to me.
