I have sold my mA1 to buy Sam460 :)
Since I am a beta-tester, we can't post benchmarks until ACube/Hyperion/Hans allows us.. That means we have to wait for OS4.1 release for Sam460 unless ACube decides to post benchmarks.
But one thing I can say that Freespace in software mode on Sam460+RadeonHD runs as smooth as mA1+Radeon7000 + Warp3D mode and working on workbench (scrolling e.t.c) is very smooth on 22" LG Monitor at 1920x1080 resolution.
It is great when you compare to limited and blurry display of MicroA1... _________________ AmigaOS4 Beta-Tester ---------------------------------- Amiga X5000 8GB Radeon RX 560 Amiga A1222 2GB Radeon RX 550 Sam 460 2GB RadeonRX 550 |

As promised, my card recommendations can be found here.

I have just updated the recommendations page. Basically, I was wrong about the PCI-to-PCIe bridge cards. The problem was an issue with Sam boards, which has been resolved. I still think that using a bridge card to plug in a better card is going to be a waste, but that remains to be seen. To that end, I'm still recommending that people wait until it has been released before buying.

Possibly. That would depend on how expensive those bridge cards are, and whether they have a low profile card. I wouldn't want to use one of those bridge cards myself if it meant that I have a card sticking out the side.

I almost forgot to mention that the driver optimises PEX 8111 and 8112 bridge chips only. So a bridge using a different chip could be disappointing.

I have been the person who raised the issue a couple of times. I have one of these bridge cards and it has the PEX 8112. As I am not a beta tester I have not used with Amiga OS 4.x. I have tried It with Window XP and it was slow.
It would seem that with your driver and Acube's Uboot updates it could be a usable option. I can see why Acube have looked into making it work. PCI Radeon HD cards can be hard to find and cost about three times more than PCIe ones. Also with the Sam 460ex it could allow the use of a second PCIe card eg a Sound card or SATA card at some point.

Both a Radeon HD 4350 ad 4670 fit in a standard tower case.

Looking forward to that! Currently using an Acer AL2416W 24" 1920 * 1200 display and that leaves me often with NO video memory left.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. All Radeon HD cards fit inside a standard case. However, quite a number of these take up two slots worth of space. For example, my Radeon HD 4350 PCI has a big heat sync that takes up the next slot over. Likewise, most Radeon HD 48xx cards have a cooler that takes up two slots. You can also find Radeon HD 4650 cards that take up two slots, but the one that I have doesn't.
The bottom line is, if you're getting a card for the Sam 460ex, then check whether the specific model that you're getting will block the adjacent PCI slot or not.

Was refering to what I thought you meant in another post about "Sticking out the side".

Ah, okay that's different. Once again you'd have to check the specific model. There are full height Radeon HD 4650s (like mine), and low-profile half-height Radeon HD 4650s (e.g., here). The same is true for other card series as well. Since the bridge card is half height, plugging a half-height (a.k.a. low-profile) card into it results in something that is standard height. Plug in a full-height card instead, and it will be 1.5 times standard height and, hence, won't fit into any case properly.
EDIT: Of course not all series have low-profile versions. For example, I haven't seen low-profile Radeon HD 4670 or 48xx cards.
