A new community portal has been launched, focusing on news, support and promotion for the Amiga line - but skewed towards the official AmigaOS upgrade path: AmigaOS 4.0 and licenced hardware on which to run it.

@Tomas

Finally an OS4 only website! If i have 1 mins in the afternoon i don't need to read 100 post about MOS, x86 and pancakes! Pancakes are good anyway

PS: nothing against MOS or AW.net but an OS4 only website is needed imho.

@Tomas

Quite literally no clue who locked this thread, so I've unlocked it.

@Staff - if you lock a thread, please post in Staff forums as to why, several of us were left wondering what happened.

@thread
Let's keep it civil, or the thread may yet find itself locked or moderated.

@ amigans.net team

Much luck with your efforts, hopefully there will be less ('Atari ST vs Amiga'-style) fighting there.

Choice is good.

I don't really see the point with amigans.net. Seems to be like aw.net, mostly the same people too.

It's not "OS4-only", it's "Amiga"-only (so they have forums about Classics also). But they discourage (is that the right word?) relative discussion (or "argument") about competing platforms.

No trolls adding unwanted references to other OT stuff.

I must admit that at times I have been most annoyed by the moderation here, but I owe you guys an apology. You do your jobs several orders of magnitute better than at other related sites, and a perfect example is Here

That thread is a perfect example why some of us believe in the necessity of "The Amigans" Website

@IonMane

Can't stand diversity? What do you think it should be moderated there? You're on a free world, you might well use that freedom instead of pointing fingers...

I think that there's no sense in supporting OS3.x in an OS4-only website.

Amigans.net is not a good name. it should be os4only.net, amigaos4.org or something similar.

@Tomas

Last days I read the word "Saubermannfaschismus" which hits the nail on the head for many things, dunno why, but somehow that word sprung to mind again, when I stumbled over that page.
Anyway best wishes to their endevours.

I don't know if it's just me but your "From:" field value (the URL) makes the forum look a bit weird - the left part of all posts (where avatar and this "From:" field is) become too wide if you post.

It has been pointed out here a number of times that only a tiny percentage of Amigaworld.net threads are about MOS (not sure about x86 or pancakes), and it's amazingly easy to simply not click on the links for these threads if you're not interested. I haven't heard of anyone being held at gunpoint and forced to read threads that they don't want to read.

But I guess for people who just can't stand to even see the words MorphOS or Pegasos or whatever in topic headlines, that site is a good thing. Maybe people with such a high level of intolerance really are better off secluded away where they won't bother or be bothered by people with different viewpoints.

All is good, I understand why you want a website with just OS4 but where exactly are the 100s of posts about MorphOS? Maybe I'm blind, but I seriously can't see them and no-one seems to want to give me links to this vast number of posts I've missed.

My time, as I am sure is the case with many of you here, is limited, and so I have to chose what site in which to actively participate in by means of reading and posting in the forums. For my part, I chose to stay on AW.NET and keep supporting it. I like the look and feel of this place and some of the colourful characters around here. Add to that the fact that my interests lie with the future of the Amiga, including OS4 (OS5 if it ever sees the light of day) BUT NOT to the exclusion of it's variants like MOS and AROS. I feel that this site meets this criteria quite nicely - a slant towards the future and specifically AOS4, with an openness towards discussions about AROS, MOS, and alternative hardware. In other words, the mere mention of another OS or hardware alternative isn't seen as grounds to be sent to gas chamber as it apparently is on this new site.

I'm nobody's "Yes" man or a lemming, and so I can't see myself joining a site with a TOS such as the one that Amigans.net has.

In any case, best of wishes to those of you that will be leaving us for this site.

I'm sorry, but I personally think that the new site is a complete waste of time. Why? simple: all those whose hobby is to constantly remind OS4 fans of their (real and imaginary) flaws will simply create accounts there and continue to derive their amusement.
